Some $3,000 in cash, assorted jewelry and a sports car were stolen at gunpoint from a Salt Lake City couple in their home Wednesday night.

Steve and Laurie Espanoza told police they were in their home near Fifth North and Center Street about 8 p.m. when two men entered the house through an unlocked rear door. The couple had about $3,000 in cash with them that they planned to use for a vacation, according to the police report.One man held a small-caliber automatic pistol on the couple while the other took cash and jewelry from the home. At one point, Steve Espanoza was shocked by what he described as a cattle prod after he told the men that they had all the money in the house.

The men then demanded the keys to the Espanoza's car which they used to flee the robbery scene, the report said. The first suspect was described as about 20 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 130 pounds. The second assailant was about 25, 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighed about 180 pounds.
