An 18-year-old West Jordan man died Monday after being crushed between a truck he was directing and a loading dock at the Smith's Warehouse complex in west Layton, according to Layton police.

The accident occurred about 4:20 p.m. when Bryan V. Hall, 6835 S. Renae St., West Jordan, was using hand signals to guide a truck backing into the dock, police said. Truck driver Thomas C. Kment, 36, found Hall crushed between the truck and dock after backing in.Police said Hall was taken to Humana Hospital Davis North in Layton, then transferred by air ambulance to LDS Hospital, Salt Lake, where he was declared dead.

The incident is being treated as an industrial accident, police said.
