K. Barton Olsen, former Box Elder county clerk and auditor, died Oct. 14, 1988, in a Brigham City nursing home, of cancer. He was 72.
Olsen was elected to the office in 1949, and served 32 years in county government. He was chosen as Outstanding County Official for Utah in 1972, and served as secretary, vice president and president of the Utah Association of County Officials.Olsen was born Aug. 11, 1916 in Brigham City. He graduated from Box Elder High School and attended Weber College in Ogden. He served in World War II as a captain in the Army. Olsen also coached little league baseball and was involved in other youth activities.
He was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as a ward clerk, bishop's counselor and bishop of the Brigham City 3rd Ward. He also was a high councilor and held other leadership and teaching positions.
Funeral services are scheduled Monday at noon at the Brigham City 3rd Ward. Friends may call Sunday at 205 S. 100 East, from 6 to 8 p.m., and Monday 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
