Salt Lake businessman Jim Haslam intends to expand his intrastate and interstate hauling with daily service between the Wasatch Front and all of Utah under the name of Utah-Idaho Freight Systems beginning April 18.

Haslam has been involved in freight haulage since 1964 when he was an officer with Wycoff Co. He left that company in 1979 to take over Haslam Distribution. He said that since some carriers no longer are in business, nobody has stepped in to fill the void. Also, deregulation continues to wash out undercapitalized and poorly managed companies and provides an excellent opportunity for a company to provide a valuable freight link between the two states.
