Two Utah teachers have been named two of the nation's best.
David N. Pehrson, a math teacher at Skyline High, has been singled out as one of the top mathematics teachers and Dwight C. Brown, a science teacher at Bountiful High, has been named one of the top science teachers.Both will travel to Washington, D.C., Oct. 23rd to receive a Presidential Award for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching. During their five days in the nation's capital, they will take part in honors workshops and be congratulated during a reception at the National Academy of Sciences and a dinner in the State Department.
Administered by the National Science Foundation, the awards are designed to recognize excellent science and mathematic teachers and to encourage highly qualified individuals to enter and remain in the field. Recipients receive a $5,000 NSF grant, an expense-paid trip to Washington for five days, and gifts from businesses and industries.
