Well-known Utah artist, writer and teacher Erla Young will speak to the members and their guests of the Salt Lake Chapter, National League of Pen Women, at their monthly meeting at noon Saturday, Nov. 5, with Mabel Harmer as hostess.
The meeting will be held in the recreation room of the Aztec, 515 S. 10th East.Young has served on the Brigham Young University art staff for the past 12 years and teaches clothing and textile illustration and design.
A Midway, Wasatch County, resident, Young organized the Valley Art Center of the Heber Valley Arts Council, where she teaches summer classes in painting and drawing. She is a national and local fine arts winner using oils, pastels or acrylics and has paintings in permanent Bertha Eccles, Deseret News, Springville and Utah state art collections.
Known for her book, "Betsy Buttons," in its eighth edition, Young has published a diet and exercise book for International Health Spas and has recently completed a textbook on fashion illustration to be published by BYU Press.
