Police believe they have located the hit-and-run pickup truck that ran over and killed a 4-year-old Taylorsville boy Monday in a Salt Lake County dump.

No criminal charges are expected to be filed against the driver because he apparently did not see the victim, said traffic detective Kent Whitehead, Salt Lake Police Department. The case, however, will be reviewed by the Salt Lake County attorney's office, Whitehead said.

The driver of the truck notified police Tuesday after hearing about news reports of the accident, which claimed the life of Jerom Garff.

Garff was with his family in the landfill, 6030 W. 13th South, about 6 p.m. Monday when he was struck by a pickup truck that drove away from a dumping site, the driver apparently unaware of the accident. The boy died later at Primary Children's Medical Center of severe head and chest injuries.
