The Rev. Eugene Profeta, the pastor who employed Jessica Hahn and a major figure in the PTL ministry scandal, was indicted Thursday for allegedly evading taxes, skimming church funds and threatening Hahn.
Profeta was indicted by an Albany County grand jury along with his wife, Glenda, but appeared alone to plead not guilty to the charges.County Judge Joseph Harris set bail at $25,000 and ordered Profeta to remain at the courthouse until he posted bail.
Harris also ordered Profeta, pastor at the Full Gospel Tabernacle Church in Massapequa, N.Y., to stay away from Hahn, who charged in 1987 that PTL founder Jim Bakker forced her to have sexual relations in a Florida motel room.
Hahn charged in a magazine story last year that she and Profeta were lovers before she met Bakker.
