Personal income increased 0.5 percent in September, even after taxes, but people curbed their spending, which was unchanged from August, the Commerce Department said Thursday. Personal income increased 0.5 percent in September to a seasonally adjusted annual $4.1 trillion, after a revised 0.3 percent increase in August, the department's Bureau of Economic Analysis said. Even after the tax man's bite was taken out, disposable personal income was up 0.5 percent, the bureau said.
