A federal grand jury in Salt Lake City has filed indictments ranging from lying to the FBI about a supposed kidnapping, to escape, to theft of government property.

Charged were:- Bobby Alan Lowe, charged with escape from federal custody on June 26, when he was confined to the federal halfway house in Salt Lake City. U.S. Attorney Brent D. Ward said Lowe was there serving the remainder of a nine-year sentence for a 1982 bank robbery conviction.

- Dennis Lee Sawatzki and Kathryn Budd, charged with stealing money from the lobbies of post offices in the Salt Lake City area.

They are both accused of stealing money from the Sugarhouse Post Office on April 30 and from the Sandy Post Office on May 5. Sawatzki is also charged with stealing money from the post offices at Clearfield, Murray, Bountiful on May 17; and the post office at Brickyard Plaza on Aug. 2.

Other counts against Sawatzki claims he damaged the "currency accepter" units at the Murray, Bountiful and Brickyard Plaza post offices.
