The search is on for Utah's 1989 Mother of the Year and Young Mother Representative to represent the state in the national competition to be held in Spokane, Washington next April.

Applications for the Mother of the Year competition must be received by Jan. 31, 1989 and must be made by a group or a club, rather than the woman's own family.An applicant must be at least 45 years old and have one or more children, all of whom must be at least 15 years old at the time of her nomination. She must also have been married in a legally accepted ceremony and be an active member of a religious body.

The Young Mother of the Year must have been a member of an American Mothers Study Chapter for one year and be nominated by that chapter. She, too, must be a member of a religious body but can have no children older than 15.

Winners of both competitions will be selected at the American Mothers Inc. Utah Association's convention Feb. 18, 1989 in Salt Lake City. Winners in various talent competitions will be named at the convention.
