The passenger of an alleged hit-and-run vehicle died Thursday night of injuries suffered when the car he was riding in crashed into a bus.
Alvin Victor Jones, 53, address unavailable, was in a westbound luxury car when it struck a northbound Utah Transit Authority bus in the intersection of Eighth South and Third East.Jones was taken to LDS Hospital, where he died about 7 p.m., said Detective George Scarlet, Salt Lake Police Department.
Also injured in the crash was bus driver Donald Croll, 53, and a passenger, Uticia Spencer, 17, both of whom were treated at local hospitals then released, said Scarlet.
Police say that moments before colliding with the bus, the luxury car, driven by Michael O. Seiber, 36, 4585 Sunstone Road, had hit another car in the intersection of Eighth South and Fourth East, causing the vehicle to hit a third car, Scarlet said.
No one was injured seriously in the first accident.
Following the crash with the bus, Seiber was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital then released.
No citations were issued, but the matter remained under investigation Friday.
