A Cache County man will serve nine more years in prison before he receives his next parole hearing.

Deloy B. Taysom, who pleaded guilty two years ago to sexually abusing a small child over a four-year period, will next appear before the board in January 1997.Taysom, who was originally charged with nine felony counts, told the board he was told that if he pleaded guilty to three of the crimes, he would not be sent to prison. Rather he would receive treatment outside prison walls.

The board told Taysom that minimum-mandatory sentencing guidelines established by the Legislature give the board no choice in the matter. An appeal of his sentence is his only option, they said.
