The Bureau of Land Management is accepting written comments on a plan proposing 49 different land and resource uses for the future management of more than 2 million acres of public lands in Utah.

Release of the proposed Pony Express Resource Management Plan and a final environmental impact statement is one of the final steps in the BLM's effort to devise land use plans for the 2,033,669 acres in Tooele, Utah and Salt Lake counties, said spokesman Dennis Oaks."Out of the four management scenarios studied, the balanced alternative is proposed as the course of action for the future," Oaks said.

That alternative would provide for development of resources, while protecting or enhancing environmental values, he said. Comments must be sent to the director of the BLM no later than Oct. 21.
