Boston Red Sox left hander Bruce Hurst has announced through his agent he will leave the American League East championship club if it does not give him a three-year contract.

Agent Nick Lampros said Monday that if the Red Sox do not comply with the demand, he will begin entertaining offers from other clubs as soon as Hurst becomes a free agent 15 days after the end of the World Series.The Red Sox had offered Hurst a two-year extension of his current contract at the beginning of the current season, but Hurst turned them down.

The left-hander compiled a record of 18-6 this season and is 46-27 over the last three years.

Hurst, 30, was paid $900,000 this year. He turned down a two-year Boston offer estimated to be between $2.5 million and $2.6 million.
