Victor Jackson, chief naturalist at Zion National Park for the past 15 years, has retired from the federal agency.

Jackson joined the National Park Service in 1958, working as a park ranger in Tennessee. He also worked for the federal agency in Arizona and Wyoming before coming to Zion National Park in 1973.

While in southern Utah, he also was coordinator of the Zion Natural History Association and helped found the Southern Utah Folklife Festival 12 years ago.
