A woman was arrested for setting a fire that caused $50,000 damage to a birth control clinic that was the target of an arsonist in June and has frequently been picketed by anti-abortion groups, officials said Monday.

The fire broke out about 8:50 p.m. Sunday in the Long Beach Women's Family Planning Center, Deputy Fire Chief Sam Husoe said.Flames moved quickly through the front of the clinic and the heat burst the windows of the single-story building, Husoe said. About a dozen firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in 10 minutes.

Damage was estimated at $50,000, arson inspector Douglas McClure said.
