Denver Broncos running back Tony Dorsett, arrested by the Colorado State Patrol and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, said he knew he was wrong to refuse to take a breath test.

The state patrol said Dorsett was "uncooperative" and verbally abusive to officers who stopped the black Jeep Cherokee he was driving at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday.Dorsett said he had been without an attorney and had always heard that in such cases "if you have an option not to do something, do not do it because it can work against you in some cases. That was the only reason I didn't do it - because I wasn't in the presence of my attorney."
