After three years of hearings and discussions, the Riverton City Council unanimously adopted planning and zoning ordinances for the city during its regular meeting Tuesday night.
After three years of relentless review, the formal adoption was anticlimactic. The council held a final public hearing before adopting the ordinances, but no one showed up to discuss them."We've had many public hearings regarding this," said city recorder Sandra Lloyd. "Anything that needed to be said has been said in the past and changes have been making according to those suggestions."
The council also accepted the audit report for 1987-88 prepared by Wiggins & Co.
The council also voted unanimously to continue buying liability insurance from the Utah Local Governments Trust.
In further action, the council proclaimed the week of Oct. 23-30 as "Red Ribbon Week." The proclamation was made at the request of national promoters, Lloyd said. "Most cities were probably contacted to do this," she said.
