U.S. News and World Report has ranked Westminster College of Salt Lake City among the nation's top 25 regional liberal arts colleges, spokeswoman Dana Tumpowsky says.
Westminster is the only college or university in the Mountain West to receive this distinction, Tumpowsky said."It is rewarding to know that the college's efforts to grow and succeed are acknowledged nationally," Westminster President Charles Dick said. "Inclusion on such a list reinforces our academic reputation for quality education."
The magazine divided the 1,337 colleges and universities in its study into five categories based on the most recent classifications of the institutions. Only the top 25 colleges in each of the five categories were listed.
The fact that "these schools have survived the financial and demographic crises afflicting higher education is testimony both to their ingenuity and to the basic educational needs they fulfill," U.S. News and World Report said.
