Utah's Paul Pilkington finished third in the big Twin Cities Marathon here Sunday.

Pilkington, a Roy school teacher, clocked a personal record time of 2:15:43 to claim the $10,000 third-place prize. Australia's Danny Boltz was first in 2:14:10 and Mexico's Jose Luis Chuela second in 2:14:47 in the field of 6,000.Pilkington, a former Weber State steeplechaser, was ninth in this race last year and finished 17th in the U.S. Olympic Marathon trials earlier this year.

Chad Bennion, another Utahn, finished 17th in 2:23:20. He was in sixth place with seven miles to go, but faded because of leg cramps. Robert Nelson, a Utah masters runner, was third in his age division.

Orem's Kathy Madsen topped Utah's female entrants, finishing 19th in the women's race with a time of 2:51:39. Another Orem resident, Cheryl Harper, finished out of the money with a time of 3:20.
