A tanker truck carrying hazardous chemicals overturned and caught fire early Tuesday on Interstate 10 near Jennings, La., spewing toxic fumes and forcing an evacuation and the closure of the highway, police said. Five people were injured in the collision, including four who were admitted to a hospital, said Trooper Paul Wood. Authorities said they had no idea how long the evacuees would be out of their homes. State police spokesman Ronnie Jones said they numbered more than 500. "From our point, the situation is under control. It's a just a matter of letting the fire burn out," he said.
