Athletics slugger Jose Canseco denied a charge he had used anabolic steroids to boost his weight by 30 pounds to 240 pounds over two years and called the accusation "slanderous," according to a report.

Washington Post sports columnist Thomas Boswell made the comment on the CBS-TV show Newswatch early Wednesday, saying Canseco was "the most conspicuous example of a player who has made himself great with steroids." Boswell added that Canseco is much larger than his twin brother, Ozzie Canseco.
