Chris Oyler, whose new book "Go Toward the Light" is getting raves as the most heartfelt memoir of the fall book season, will be in Salt Lake City for conference weekend.
From 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, she'll be at the Deseret Book store in the Cottonwood Mall. On Saturday, Oct. 1, she'll be signing books and talking to customers from noon to 2 p.m. at Deseret Book in Fashion Place, and from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the flagship Deseret Book store in the downtown ZCMI center."Go Toward the Light," co-authored by Oyler and Beth Polson, is the story of
young Ben Oyler, a child who contracted AIDS after a blood transfusion. This is the story of the young man's tragedy and triumph. Says Norman Cousins:
"I can think of no higher praise for a book than to say the reader feels the writer's pain and glory with no loss in the transmission."
Currently CBS is producing a TV movie of Ben's ordeal.
Chris Oyler is the mother of three. She lives in Carmel, Calif. According to Boyd Ware of Deseret Book, her visit will be one of the highlights for readers this fall. If both the published and word-of-mouth reviews of her book are any indication, he's right.
