Logan police have arrested a member of the Utah State University wrestling team in the rape of a 19-year-old USU student.
A complaint signed by Cache County Attorney Lanny Gunnell Monday charges David Santos Zuniga, 20, with rape and forcible sodomy, both first-degree felonies. Zuniga also was charged with burglary, a second-degree felony, and intoxication, a class B misdemeanor.Zuniga's arraignment began Monday in Logan's 2nd Circuit Court but was continued to give him time to hire an attorney. He remained in the Cache County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
Logan Police Detective Randy Auman said Zuniga was arrested Friday, several hours after the attack was reported to police by Logan Regional Hospital personnel.
He said the woman told police that a man entered her home between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. Friday through an unlocked window and raped her.
