A series of neighborhood entertainment events have been scheduled to raise money for the Chapman Library, 577 S. Ninth West, and to launch the career of a new acting company - The Poplar Grove Theater.

"We hope to open the doors for unknown talents, be a service organization for the community and organize amateur productions and talent shows," said Leon Johnson, organizer of the project.The performances will begin at 2 p.m. at the Chapman Library. Johnson will present a one-man show Oct. 1. A children's singing group, The Wee Entertainers, and a senior citizen group, The Sunday Anderson Dance Group, will perform on Oct. 8. Ed Crane's Ballroom Dancers and Pat Toledo's Break Dancers will perform Oct. 15 and Jean Paul Sartre's "No Exit" play will be presented Nov. 5 by The Poplar Grove Theater.
