The Union Middle School eighth-grader who was suspended after urinating on a shop class floor returned to school Monday.

Jordan School District spokeswoman Patty Dahl said the 15-year-old was allowed to return to Union Middle School after meeting the terms of his week's suspension. No special conditions were placed on his return, but he will be required to meet the same code of conduct as other students, she said.During his suspension, Jordan officials debated whether to send him back to Union Middle School or to another school or school district.

Dahl said the decision was reached to let him return to Union Middle School after meetings with the principal, district officials, attorneys and the boy's parents. The boy's parents pushed for the teen's return to Union because it is his boundary school and they feel it is where he belongs, she said.

The boy's suspension came after an incident where the boy urinated on the classroom floor and a substitute teacher used the boy to mop up the floor. The boy said he asked permission to leave; the teacher said the boy never asked permission to leave the class. The substitute has been barred from teaching in the Jordan School District.
