A judge has set a December trial date for a man charged with three sex counts after photographs of nude children were submitted to a university photography class, but his defense attorney has won another pre-trial competency hearing for his client.

Judge VeNoy Christoffersen scheduled a competency hearing for Ronald Hinkley, 38, for Nov. 7 in Logan's 1st District Court and unless Hinkley is found incompetent, a three-day jury trial will begin Dec. 6.Hinkley faces charges of sexual abuse, sodomy and sexual exploitation of a minor. He has been in the Cache County Jail on $100,000 bond since Dec. 1, 1987, three days after photographs of nude and semi-nude children were submitted to a Utah State University art class and turned over to police by the instructor.
