Former Spring City Mayor Glen S. Osborne waived a preliminary hearing Monday on 67 charges of theft of $44,000 from the Horseshoe Irrigation Co. while he was an irrigation company executive.

Sixth Circuit Judge David Mower ordered Osborne, 54, bound over for trial. Osborne is scheduled to appear Oct. 19 in 6th District Court for arraignment and pleading to 49 felony-theft counts and 18 misdemeanor allegations.Osborne, Spring City mayor from 1972 to 1980, was charged in July with taking irrigation company money between 1984 and 1987 while he was secretary-treasurer.

The case is being prosecuted by the state attorney general's office.
