Bonnie Ruefenacht, a 1988 South High School graduate, has been named the 1988-89 Quinney Scholarship recipient at Utah State University.

The scholarship, made possible by a grant from the S.J. and Jessie E. Quinney Foundation, provides outstanding high school students with $1,000 annual stipends for their studies in natural resources at USU.

Students from Idaho, Nevada, Utah and Wyoming entered the competition. They were rated on their ACT or SAT scores, high school or college grades, an essay and letters of recommendation.

Ruefenacht, a daughter of Russell and Carol Ruefenacht, 832 Elgin Ave., graduated in the top 5 percent of her class last June. She was active in German Club, received top honors in her advanced-placement courses and was an exchange student to Hamburg, Germany.
