Entries for the 16th annual Deseret News Art Show will be accepted Friday and Saturday in the ZCMI Center where the juried exhibit runs Oct. 6-24 in the Grand Court.

Utah artists may submit up to two entries in the show Friday between 4 and 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Entrants may inquire at the information booth near the fountain for the exact location. Two prominent Utah artists, both past winners in the show, have been named jurors. They are Ken Baxter and Earl Jones, recipients of numerous art honors in addition to those received through the Deseret News exhibit, according to show officials.

The 19-day exhibit, an established show among the state's artists, has been a popular attraction with downtown visitors.

Artists may submit entries on any subject matter without emphasis on any particular medium. However, they must not exceed 50 inches in height or width. All work must be original and completed within the past two years, and a $3 entry fee, non-refundable, will be charged for each entry.

Photographs, or work other than two-dimensional, such as woodwork, sculpture or ceramics, will not be accepted.

Six entries will receive merit awards, and one of the six will be awarded the purchase prize. The entry then becomes a part of the newspaper's corporate art collection.

The six winning entries will be reproduced in color in the Oct. 9 Sunday Deseret News.
