Orky, the patriarch of Sea World's popular killer whale exhibit, died of natural causes Monday, three days after a calf he fathered was born at the marine park.

Sea World officials said jubilation that followed the sudden birth of Baby Shamu Friday gave way to sadness at the loss of Orky, a veteran performer who thrilled crowds with his stunts but also injured several trainers with erratic actions."As in all of nature, the old die and new babies are born to take their place. We are proud the legacy of Orky will live on," a spokesman said.
