A man attempting to pawn a rock he claimed was part gold stabbed a store clerk after the employee escorted him from the downtown pawn shop Friday evening, a Salt Lake City Police report said.

Two clerks at the shop, 206 E. Fifth South, approached the man outside the store when he began kicking the glass front door. The man refused to leave and stabbed one clerk in the thigh with a sharp letter opener and beat the other, the report said.
