A West Valley woman's purse was stolen early Saturday morning by a man who pushed her to the ground and tried to sexually assault her near 40th West and 47th South, according to a police report.

The woman, 27, was walking on a residential street just after 2 a.m. when a man knocked her down, kicked and hit her head against the sidewalk, and tried to remove her pants. He took her purse and ran when she began to scream. The purse contained $8.

The attacker was described as a white male, about 19 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall, 140 pounds with straight, black, shoulder-length hair. He was wearing jeans, boots and a blue or brown coat.
