A Sandy teenager, Carlos Setterberg, was elected Western Division national vice commander of the Sons of the American Legion during their national convention in Louisville, Ky. He is commander of the Utah detachment of the Sons of the American Legion.

The position has never been held by a Utahn.

A junior at Jordan High School, Setterberg was recently elected to a second term as detachment commander and is active in the squadron sponsored by Sandy Post 77 of the American Legion.

As vice commander, Setterberg will travel to several Western states to promote programs sponsored by the group. Members of Sons of the American Legion must have a father or grandfather in the American Legion.

Setterberg, an Eagle Scout, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Setterberg.
