Salt Lake-based Automated Language Processing Systems Inc. says it has agreed to merge the Montreal operations of its subsidiary Multiscript International Inc., based in Montreal, and La Langagerie Inc., a subsidiary of New York-based advertising giant Ogilvy and Mather.

The merger involves Multiscript acquiring the assets of La Langagerie and integrating the operations of both companies to form the largest translation service company in Canada, in a market estimated at $130 million per year. The company will do business under the name Multiscript/Langagerie.The decision to merge was based on the natural fit of clients and personnel of the two companies, a spokesman said.

Automated Language said the merger gives Canadian clients access to translation into more than 25 languages, in a variety of specialty areas including finance, pharmaceuticals, engineering, medicine, automotive, law, aerospace, data processing and defense.
