A West Valley woman pleaded not guilty to drug and firearms charges in 2nd District Court and is scheduled for trial Oct. 26.

Deborah Drane, 32, pleaded not guilty this week to two charges of possession of cocaine and heroin, both third-degree felonies, and misdemeanor charges of carrying a concealed weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia. The charges were filed May 13 after Davis County sheriff's deputies spotted Drane and two men on parole from the Utah State Prison in a vehicle parked off U.S. 89 near a South Weber convenience store shortly after midnight.

On approaching the car, the deputies saw firearms inside it and a search turned up more guns in addition to stolen property and drugs, according to court records.

Also charged were Kim N. Rafel, 28, and Frank A. Brown, 25, both of Salt Lake. Rafel and Brown are scheduled for arraignment next week on charges of possession of a firearm by a restricted person, possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia and possession of stolen property.

Drane posted $13,000 bond on the Davis County charges but is currently in the Salt Lake County Jail on other charges.
