The addition of absentee ballot votes did not change the outcome of a close vote for Granite School Board member in the district's third precinct, but the loser says she will ask for an official recount.

Only 11 votes separated the second- and third-place candidates in the primary election, with Roy R. Chapman tallying 611 and Kay S. Cherrington 600. Denis R. Morrill had a comfortable lead over both Chapman and Cherrington. When absentee votes were added, Chapman's total increased to 617 votes, Charrington's to 603 and Morrill's to 948.

Cherrington told the Deseret News she will ask for a recount, but did not really expect the outcome to change.
