An Israeli navy patrol killed three suspected Palestinian guerrillas off the coast of southern Lebanon Saturday, and a 12-year-old Palestinian girl died of wounds she received in a clash Sept. 17 in the occupied West Bank.

An Israeli navy vessel on patrol near Tyre, 15 miles north of the Israeli border, detected a rubber dinghy carrying three armed guerrillas and opened fire, destroying the boat and killing its occupants, an army spokesman said.Israel's self-declared security extends into Lebanon about half the distance to Tyre, but the spokesman would not say whether the craft was in waters off the security zone.

The spokesman also did not say why the Israeli patrol boat considered the dinghy a hostile vessel or whether there was contact between the two boats before the attack.
