Youths statewide are being urged to sign pledges not to experiment with harmful drugs, joining a nationwide effort started by first lady Nancy Reagan.
Gov. Norm Bangerter has signed a proclamation designating this as "Just-Say-No Week", after the slogan geared to help children and teenagers know what to say when confronted with drugs.Local grocery chains have agreed to provide boxes where youths can deposit pledge cards that will be sent to Washington. About 48 million households nationwide will receive pledge cards in the mail this week, officials said. Youths can obtain extra cards at grocery stores.
