An Indiana man was killed and his wife injured in a three-car collision on I-80.

The Utah Highway Patrol said Louis McPherson, 50, Lafayette, was killed in the Tuesday noon collision about a mile west of Coalville.Troopers said McPherson was traveling in the center eastbound lane behind a motor home and moved into the left lane to pass.

A tractor unit of a semitrailer-truck, driven by Lionel Masse, 36, 252 E. Seventh North, Orem, was attempting to turn off the highway through the median as the McPherson car moved into the left lane, the patrol said.

McPherson's car slammed into the truck and then slid into the mobile home, the UHP said.

Lois McPherson, 52, was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, Salt Lake City, where she is in stable condition. The drivers of the mobile home and the truck, as well as their passengers, were not injured.
