Eyring Inc. of Provo has been awarded a $5 million contract by the Naval Training Systems Training Center, Orlando, Fla., to modify and update aircraft simulators used in flight training.
Clyde Stauffer, Eyring's simulation manager, said the company's Simulation Division won the contract because of its experience and performance with other missile and aircraft simulation contracts for the military.Eyring also contracts to "rehost" computers that control the aircraft simulators. This involves retiring old computers and installing new ones in training simulators.
Eyring employs 200 along the Wasatch Front in a wide variety of research, computer software and advanced engineering projects. The company recently was purchased by John L. Harmer, former California lieutenant governor, who is board chairman and chief executive officer.
