Two workshops on year-round school scheduling will be held Sept. 22 and 23 in the Red Lion Inn. The State Office of Education is sponsoring the meetings to provide current information on cost/benefits, faculty considerations, planning, legislation, personnel issues and other factors related to year-round schools.

Administrators and educators from throughout the state are expected to attend.Larry Horyna, development specialist with the state office, said growth in the number of Utah schools moving to extended day or year-round schedules has prompted a separate workshop on each issue.

Workshops begin at 8:30 a.m. both days. The year-round session will address secondary school issues as well as elementary.

Speakers will include Steve Walters, Los Angeles Unified School District, and Ron D'Incau, a year-round middle school principal from Oxnard, Calif.
