A Moroni man and his infant son died and two other family members were seriously injured Friday in a head-on collision on U-132, the Utah Highway Patrol said.
Juan Zomudie, 29, and his 3-month-old son, Marco, died when the northbound car, driven by Zomudie, crossed the center line while rounding a curve and struck an oncoming car about 8:10 p.m. Friday, the patrol said.Zomudie's wife, Elena, was in stable condition Monday morning in Mountain View Hospital in Payson, and the couple's daughter, Rosa, 8, was in critical condition in Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City.
The family's four other children, ages 2 to 10, were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
UHP Trooper Stan Henderson said Zomudie was northbound when his vehicle crossed the center line while going around a curve and crashed head-on into a vehicle driven by Geral Marx, 60, Mount Pleasant. Marx was treated at Utah Valley Medical Center for a broken arm and a blow to the chest and later released. A passenger, Nola M. Washburn, no age or address available, was uninjured.
