To no one's surprise, the Utah Public Employees Association, the largest government worker labor union in the state, formally endorsed Democratic gubernatorial candidate Ted Wilson on Monday.

UPEA president Ken Serre said Wilson is the candidate who understands government and can make it work. He added that Wilson is a former UPEA member. The labor group's political-action committee has given Wilson's campaign more than $9,000 already. More money may be coming.

Serre also denounced the tax-cutting initiatives, saying that should they pass in November they would have a devastating effect on public employees' ability to adequately provide government services.
