J. Owen Cherrington, a Brigham Young University professor of accounting, has received the 1988 National Advisory Council Faculty Award.

The National Advisory Council, affiliated with the BYU School of Management, includes 75 to 80 executive officers from public and private organizations worldwide who want to assist actively in educating business and public managers.Recognized for his ability to link real-world experiences with classroom curriculum, Cherrington received $1,500 and a plaque for his accomplishments.

Gary McKinnon, associate dean of the School of Management, said Cherrington received the award also for his research and development of new courses and methods of teaching in the School of Accountancy.

A member of the accounting faculty since 1978, Cherrington is an authority on business ethics and has written several articles on the subject that have appeared in national publications.
