A car packed with explosives blew up in Christian east Beirut on Tuesday, igniting fires, killing at least three people and wounding 25 others, including a former government minister and two aides, police said.

Police said the booby-trapped car, laden with a large amount of explosives and flammable liquid, exploded at 9 a.m. on the main highway in the Dora area, sending shrapnel cutting through pedestrians and people passing in cars.
