A good Samaritan was threatened with a knife Monday when he tried to break up a dispute between a 17-year-old and the youth's girlfriend.
About 11:30 a.m., a man walking toward a fast food restaurant saw the juvenile trying to force his girlfriend into his car in a parking lot at 5830 S. State. The man stopped to help the girl, and the juvenile pulled a large knife from the glove compartment and chased him across the parking lot, according to Murray Police Officer Jeff Holdridge.A witness said the man pulled a shovel from the back of his own pickup and used it to defend himself. The youth then fled in his car. He returned 15 minutes later and told officers, "I'm the one you're looking for."
Officers took the juvenile into custody and impounded his car. The girl was unhurt.
