Esther Eggertsen Peterson, former chairwoman of the President's Consumer Affairs Council, will be the inaugural speaker at the Alice Reynolds Lecture at 3 p.m. Sept. 22 in 6225 Harold B. Lee Library at Brigham Young University.

Peterson will talk about her association as a BYU student with Alice Louise Reynolds. Reynolds was BYU's first woman professor and, at the turn of the century, helped begin building the library's book collection to a viable collegiate level.Peterson has served under three United States presidents - Kennedy, Johnson and Carter. She also assisted Eleanor Roosevelt (1961-63) as executive vice chairwoman of the President's Commission on the Status of Women.
