To the editor:

On Aug. 27, a massive community investment in Salt Lake City's Westside Neighborhoods took place. Salt Lake Neighborhood Housing Services sponsored this fourth annual Paint Your Heart Out day, and completed the painting of 22 low-income senior citizens' homes.Salt Lake NHS is a non-profit corporation dedicated to revitalizing Salt Lake neighborhoods through this kind of project, stimulating private and community investment in neighborhoods as well as many other services.

Although the Deseret News covered the project with an article, the report fell far short of providing an accurate view of the scope of the event, much less recognizing the hundreds of groups and individual volunteers that made the fourth annual Paint Your Heart Out a success.

The health and care of our neighborhoods is directly related to the health and vitality of our city. Over 350 volunteers representing various groups and businesses made an important investment in Salt Lake Neighborhoods and the city as a whole.
